Cancer-related cognitive dysfunction (CRCD) consists of mild to moderate and persistent impairments in verbal memory, verbal working memory and attention following cancer diagnosis and treatment. CRCD can have a significant adverse impact on quality of life and health-function in about half of all cancer survivors post-treatment. While objective neurocognitive assessment has documented cognitive decline in past research, cognitive symptoms assessed by standardized self-report measures appear more strongly associated with emotional distress, fatigue and expectations of CRCD symptoms following cancer.
